NEW COURSE:

An Introduction to Field Recroding & Sound Production

BIO

SOUND ARTIST

I am fascinated by the way in which sound can influence how we interact with objects and explore our environment. As co-founder of arts collective Kinokophone, and through my independant work, I explore this through collaborating on interactive installations and hosting sound cinema events.

Kinokophone has hosted sound cinema listening events in the UK, Japan and the USA, welcoming field recordings from across the globe. They have exhibited independent work at John Ryland’s Library and the Whitworth, Manchester and New York Public Libraries, New York. They largely contributed to Rule No.5, a permanent award winning exhibition at the Bobst Library Atrium, New York.

All Other Things Being Equal – Dr Johan Oldekop/Manchester Museum: quad-channel audio composition I composed using field recordings made in the Ecuadorian Amazon. The piece attempted to place the listener on the fragile frontier between the natural and industrial, as experienced personally while exploring locations between rural communities and vast, expanding urban towns in the province of Orellana.

MIXED-MEDIA PRODUCER

I have produced audio and video for a whole variety of projects, creating works that include Greyson Perry, Cornelia Parker, Arts Council England’s Ambition and an array of local and independent cultural organisations and businesses.

As a producer I am experienced in:

  • production scheduling
  • contracting
  • intellectual property and rights clearances
  • location, crew and talent management

As production sound recordist, camera operator and video editor I have comprehensive knowledge and experience of production workflows and delivery formats.

The majority of my production work falls within three main roles:
